I dug Fiona Apple's
'When The Pawn' out today - that album is still one of
the best CD's from the past 5 years. Super strong songs, sonically solid yet
not slick, & probably Jon Brion's best production effort. Eric got to see her
& J5 in Chicago a couple of years back. Wonder where album #3 is ...
LMP work is still on the d/l, but the studio remains alight. When
not busy mixing down the Lakitu Youth stuff, a geniune
children's musical about Australia is being written w/ friend Crow for his
5th grade class. Nevermind that neither of us has traveled even remotely
close to Oceania, so in order to retain a cosmic balance, I hope somewhere in
Brisbane a couple of Aussie songwriters are desperately searching for rhymes
for 'Iowa'.
I wrote a fake downtempo gospel number for the musical called 'Cool Wool'.
I was pleased w/it, but was vetoed later. So far, thankfully, no lame raps have been
written (a prime symptom of CSL [Children Songwriter Laziness]) - although
something that sounded like Spoonie Gee might rule the school. Literally.
A good ol' self-important bla here ...
