Thomas says:
First it was Montecore of 'Siegfried & Roy' fame getting the bad rap. Then everyone was all over the cat living up in Harlem. Finally the big cats start getting some PR for once, and it's pure crrrap.
Look, I promised the fellas I wouldn't get all political here, but c'mon everybody, let's just settle down. I was ordering a Rob Roy last night when the waitress snapped back 'Easy there, tiger. Don't attack me or anything.' What?! All I wanted was a drink and a steak, and suddenly my favorite watering hole had turned on me. I haven't soberly attacked anybody since my last label tried screwing me out of royalties.
This article says there's 15,000 big cats living in the States, and I'd wager to say there's 4 times that many. They were probably just counting those of us renting, like the male in Harlem. And as far as Montecore goes, rumor has it his big song & dance number had recently gotten cut from the act, hence why he was so edgy. Sure it's a steady job, but so is the zoo, if you know what I mean. And by the way, Monty, easy on the catnip.
Overall, I have to point a paw of blame directly at the entertainment business. We're not all 'sit on a chair & growl' robots or corporate shills for hire. When's the last time you saw a tiger doing the sports on your local news, or hosting the Tonight Show or Enterrtainment Tonight, let alone be featured on one of these shows, unless you're Tony the Freakin' Tiger? And speaking of which, notice how quiet he's been throughout this media circus, and not quiet in a 'stalking his prey' manner, either. More of a 'I don't want to go back to dinner theatre' manner if you ask me. For shame.
