Erasure This 4-song EP is pretty hard to find, and that's too bad, because it contains some of the most imaginative remixes Erasure has ever put out. The title song (all songs are originally from the Chorus album) is not treated too drastically, but the remix allows us to enjoy the song (one of Erasure's best) a bit longer. Quite blissful, actually. "Love To Hate You" is remixed to emphasize the disco elements, to great effect. "Chorus," remixed by Moby, is the most radically different from the album version of the four songs on this EP, and it's very good. Still recognizable but takes some good risks. Very funky, catchy exploration of the original song. The real gem of the EP is the acoustic guitar version of "Perfect Stranger," another of the band's very best songs. Listening to the aching beauty of the melody, you can't help but wish that Erasure would have at some point released an acoustic-based collection to emphasize their tragically unappreciated songwriting skills. I really believe that Andy Bell and Vince Clarke have given us some of the most memorable and perfect pop songs of the last twenty years, but most people are too put off by the sometimes passe electronic textures they couch their songs in to notice. Ah well, one day it will all be known. Until then I'm retreating further into my wispy nostalgia for the early '90s and enjoying this EP.
