![]() Jandek Enjoy Pink Moon but feel like it would have been better if Nick Drake had suffered a massive stroke immediately before recording it? Then consider White Box Requiem. Which is not to say that this is necessarily Jandek's Pink Moon. In many ways, every Jandek record is his Pink Moon. Voice and guitar, drenched in echo, unintelligible lyrics, luck-of-the-draw guitar technique. For what it's worth, this is the one Jandek album I actually like to listen to. Some of it approaches "real music," like "Eternal Waltz," which is either a completely random improvisation on a badly out-of-tune guitar or an inspired personal roam through the history of acoustic blues. Whether he is serious or not is not my concern … the world needs Jandek like Superman needs Mr. Mxyzptlk.
