![]() Original Soundtrack Sure, it's got the title track by Paul McCartney & Wings, but the rest of the soundtrack is just as fun and listenable. George Martin's score, while admittedly nothing of the magnitude of "Sea of Holes" or "Pepperland Laid Waste" (*sarcasm alert*), is nonetheless sufficiently beguiling and suspenseful, weaving variations on the James Bond Theme together with highly Anglicized New Orleans "soul." Be sure to hear B.J. Arnau's fiery "real" soul version of "Live and Let Die," which ranks just below Wings and way above Guns N' Roses, unsurprisingly. Perfect background for those "How to Host a Murder with Yaphet Kotto" parties everyone seems to be hosting these days. This is not the most substantial album ever made, but it's easily in the upper echelon of Bond soundtracks and a surprisingly return-to-able sort of album. Too bad George Martin didn't pay tribute to this one on his celebrity-stuffed solo album In My Life, I mean he fucking had Sean Connery in the studio! Review by Thora Pratt |
