Capri Sun Island Refresher Tropical Fruit
If ever there were a drink that was all about the packaging and not about the
contents, it's Capri Sun. Well, maybe a Pousse Café or my old tupperware cup with the triple loop zany straw. But face facts, Jack. A Capri
Sun package could be filled with raccoon urine or melted wax, and you'd still
at least be holding it pretending you're orbiting Mars aboard the Space
Shuttle, getting ready to sip 'n' mug shamelessly for those watching at ground
control.
So imagine my surprise when I spy in the refrigerated beverages aisle what
appears to be a metallic shampoo container being chilled, but in actuality is
Capri Sun's foray into the grown-up market: Island Refreshers. The bottle
felt how you'd expect it to—riding the fence between flimsy and sturdy, but
keeping your attention locked in the entire time.
The drink itself is classic Capri Sun. A light, kinda weak punch that somehow, probably just because you're sucking it from a space-age container, tastes better than it is.
Kinda like "Hmm, this roller coaster wasn't quite as fun as I expected, but
at least they let us out of the slammer for the afternoon."
