Ryan says:
I just finished recording possibly THE shittiest song I've ever (half-)written, 'Anything You Want', so it would look like I even TRIED to finish the National Solo Album Month project by month's end. It's a great idea, but it truly couldn't have come at a worse time for both Eric & myself, seeing as the Century project is fiercely rearing its indefatigable Hydraheads one last time.
At this stage, I'm fighting from filling the remainder of the 'solo album' with one long ambient drone or various sub-George Winston piano noodles. Dunno why I'm so recalcitrant to the idea, however, 'cause writing a bunch of scattered, frenetic pop is the last thing my buzzing brain needs right now.
Ideally, I should go attempt improv comedy at an open mic night, record the results, and put out something like the '81 'Steve Martin Brothers' album, which is one-side comedy, one-side bluegrass and overall, strangely tired & very uninspired for Steve.
In the meantime, an early-December Green Bean show premiere breathes down me neck.
As for Eric's album progress, I do know he's written a number of songs but hasn't been able to get into the studio to lay them down. In the meantime, I'm going to pour over the NaSoAlMo rules to see if contracting out album writing/recording to an offshore contracting firm is permissible.
