Outback Steakhouse
75-5809 Alii Drive, Kailua-Kona, HI, USA

There is only one Outback on the entire Big Island of Hawaii, and I visited it after driving around the entire island. Having visited the volcano on the other side of the island that same day, I was perhaps too weary and hungry to warrant a valid review of the restaurant. Wait, since when do we need to make excuses for not writing valid reviews?

It's hard to eat anywhere in Hawaii without some sort of scenic view and this Outback is no different. It's entrenched in a tourist promenade type of place, the kind you see main characters in WB dramas meeting at. Being quite hungry, I opted to eat inside for quicker seating.

I proudly ordered the most expensive steak on the menu. It had an awful lot of fat on it, so I should have gotten the pork chops; they're my ol' reliables. In fact, I'll award six li'l puppies on the merit of the pork chops I had back in 1995.

There wasn't much that made this Outback more distinctly Hawaiian than any other I've been to, I mean, even McDonald's had the Spam, egg, and sausage breakfast. Ah, who cares. You can't go to Hawaii and expect everything to be leis and tiki idols. Actually, you'd be surprised at just how much of it is.
