X2: X-Men United (2003)
Directed by Bryan Singer
Written by Zak Penn, Michael Dougherty, and Dan Harris

There could have never been a first X-Men film and you would never know the difference. But that's good – the episodic format works, and I hope it continues in perpetuity. X2 is a perfect, mindless action film. Plenty of fighting, just enough story, a pinch of pathos, excellent special effects, and Hugh Jackman in a tight T-shirt! Hooowwwwwooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!

Though, Anna Paquin, as always, is horrible here. Just pointless and bad. Did they mistakenly edit her audition tape into the actual film?

There could have also been more X-Men. They left out a lot of prominent characters from the comic book. I had the same complaint for the first film, but since this installment added a few, I can only guess that after five or six films we'll probably have seen everyone.

Finally, a comic book franchise is being done justice on the silver screen. I wish they would make a movie of the Radio Shack promotional comics from the late 80s.
